Set-Up Allowance
I am pleased to make official something I have often done. For customers who buy directly from Wingert Guitars, I am pleased to offer a one time set-up allowance on your new guitar within the first three months of ownership.
Because many of my customers buy from me with nothing more than emails or phone conversations, I do not have an opportunity to do a personalized set up on their new guitar. I pride myself on great set ups and unsurpassed fret work. My set ups are on the low side so that I can test every fret, the truss rod, the appropriate relief, the fall off at the end of the board, and the overall behavior of the guitar.
When a guitar leaves my shop, the nut is cut down to the lowest possible adjustment and may wear out much faster than the nut on a factory guitar. That is my standard, because in my experience, that is what most players want. Many factory guitars are set up on the "safe" side, and the nut is uncomfortably high. Most factory guitars are a little too high in the saddle for many players.
Since everyone is a little different in their tastes and in their attack, if your guitar isn't set up exactly to your playing style, please take it to your favorite local luthier or tech for a set up that suits your playing style anytime in the first three months. Send the bill to me, and I will refund your money for the set up.
Of course, some conditions apply:
This is for customers who buy directly from me only. This is for the first three months of ownership. The repair person or shop MUST be reputable. You assume any damage or problems that result if the shop or person chosen screws something up! If you don't know much about set ups, please call me, and I will walk you through the process so that you will know what to expect from the person or shop to whom you take your guitar.
There are many reputable shops and luthiers around the country. If you don't know one, please call or email me, and I will help you find the one nearest you. As always, any guitar can come back to me for this kind of work, but the buyer must pay the shipping.
